Mobility question? Hire a startup!
Published on October 27, 2022Without innovations in mobility, we will progress less quickly. Electric vehicles are more sustainable, sensors are safer, new apps make sharing easier. And there are many more examples. To stimulate these types of innovations, the national mobility program Mobility Lab links startups to organizations with a mobility issue. Brainport Bereikbaar is participating. You too?
'This year is the sixth edition of Mobility Lab,' says Anna Paar. Anna is Mobility as a Service project leader at Brainport Bereikbaar. She is also responsible for the development of innovation. 'That is why I am also involved in Mobility Lab. My role is mainly to recruit organizations in the region that want to participate. Just like others do in other regions.'
Working together on mobility
The aim of Mobility Lab is to contribute to a sustainable, user-friendly and efficient mobility system. 'We do this by supporting mobility startups in finding their first customers. Where they can test their mobility solutions in practice, with real users. At the same time, we want to introduce organizations here in the region to innovative products and services that they can benefit from. We look for the best matches with organizations that have a mobility challenge. We then also provide startups with guidance and coaching during implementation. For example in the field of legal affairs or branding. And we regularly organize events where startups can exchange their knowledge and experience.'
Everyone can participate!
The program has already produced many great results. 'For example, Drive Amber participated with its shared cars, which is now a fully-fledged company. Just like electric cargo bike provider Cargaroo. Once again this year, after an extensive selection, we found 19 promising startups. We have also found organizations that want to participate. We call them “Launching customers”. Any company with a mobility challenge can participate: from large to very small. Those who participate will receive a list of participating startups. There you choose 1 or more with whom you want to talk. If there is a click, you can start a pilot together. Participation in Mobility Lab is free, but you can make agreements together about any costs of the pilot.'
