Time for action in Eindhoven Northwest!
Brainport has been growing faster than the rest of the Netherlands for years. Certainly the Eindhoven Northwest part. This causes traffic congestion to increase. High time for action! Brainport Bereikbaar, the Brabant Mobility Network and the municipality of Eindhoven have therefore drawn up a broad package of measures for Eindhoven Northwest. For car traffic, bicycle traffic and public transport. What's planned? You will find all measures below.

A good example leads to good follow
Several companies from the Northwest are already getting started. The International School Eindhoven (ISE) is also working on sustainable mobility. Partly inspired by developments in the area and the accessibility deal. Their top priority is the bicycle. ISE looks at how it works among employees and students can promote cycling. IT company Itility chose a different route. During a three-month pilot, employees could use all kinds of transport from three providers. As a result, they were less likely to take their own car. Itility is now looking at how the pilot can be continued, because it appears that smart travel solutions certainly have potential.

Car traffic measures
- Truck parking
Many or incorrectly parked trucks cause a nuisance. That can be done differently. In 2023 we will start a pilot that influences the parking behavior of truck drivers. This increases (traffic) safety in Northwest.
- BusinessLines
BusinessLines are buses for professionals who travel quickly, sustainably and comfortably from the region to the business parks in the Northwest. We will roll out the first BusinessLine in 2023. We determine on which routes in consultation with employers. We look at the travel patterns of employees of established companies. The BusinessLines are a great alternative to traveling by car.
- Remote parking
Remote parking reduces parking pressure in the long term. This creates more space for greenery. Hubs make remote parking easy. A hub is a place where you can park and where onward transport is available, such as bus connections and bicycle sharing. We are running a pilot at an existing P+R location. During the pilot we monitor the ease of use for employees.
- Other working hours
More spread of working hours reduces traffic congestion. Together with the parties involved, we want to agree on how we can reduce or even eliminate the morning and evening rush hour. One line of thought is the mutual coordination of window times.
Cycle traffic measures
- Try an e-bike
One week for free on the e-bike to work. With this try-out we want to entice commuters who live within 20 kilometers of work to cycle to work. This way they experience the benefits of cycling to work. This can be combined with a cycling challenge app. During a promotional period, all kilometers cycled between home and work location are worth points. In addition to internal or mutual competencies, there are additional actions. The points earned give the participant access to great prizes and rewards.
- Cycling challenge
Together with many employers in the region, we will cycle from May 11 to June 30 for more fresh air for ourselves and for the region. Simply because it improves the health, vitality and accessibility of organizations. With the Brainport Cycling Challenge As an employer in the Brainport region, you can encourage your employees to cycle more often. We collect money for Longfonds.
- Service points for cyclists
If you cycle to and from work, you want to store your bicycle safely and have repairs carried out quickly and professionally. This and more is possible at a service point. We are looking at whether we can also combine other facilities at the service point. In this way we promote cycling experience and safety in Northwest.
- Bottlenecks with the bicycle
The new cycle paths and improvements to other routes make cycling to work more attractive. Smart technology helps us to clarify which improvements are needed where and where a cycle path should be constructed. This promotes cycling safety.
Public transport measures
The municipality of Eindhoven is preparing to make Eindhoven Northwest more accessible by public transport. Think of HOV3, onward transport and international train connections. Click here for more information about the plans.
- Hybrid working
With hybrid working you make it possible for employees to work both on location and from home. This saves employees travel time and reduces traffic on the road and in public transport. Brabant Mobility Network helps employers facilitate hybrid working.
- Public transport for other working hours
Several companies in Northwest use different start and end times than a standard 9 to 5 working day. Think of companies that work in shifts. This makes it difficult for employees to travel by public transport. We would like to change the current timetable. Shuttle buses are used in the meantime to test demand. The BusinessLines is a good example of this.
